Stri Wellness is India's first Yoga Alliance USA registered school dedicated to the complete spectrum of women's wellness — from fertility to menopause, and every sacred stage in between.
The Stri Wellness Story
Stri Wellness was born from a powerful idea — to create a space where women can find balance, heal, and thrive through life's transformational stages, using the wisdom of yoga and holistic living.
The vision came into being in 2018, rooted in years of learning, teaching, and personally experiencing the profound benefits of yoga. After years of freelancing as a yoga teacher, our founder Nisha Ahya recognised a deep need: a dedicated space designed specifically for women's wellness — one that blended modern science with the depth of ancient yogic practices.
What began as a focus on prenatal yoga — supporting women through the unique physical, emotional, and psychological terrain of pregnancy — quickly evolved into something far larger: a mission to accompany women through all phases of life. From preconception to postpartum, from hormonal transitions to menopause, Stri Wellness stands as a sanctuary of transformation.
At its core, Stri Wellness embraces the philosophy that yoga is more than physical exercise. It is a practice that nurtures the body, mind, and soul. Through pranayama, meditation, relaxation, and mindful living, every program here helps women address change — physically, emotionally, and psychologically — from the inside out.
Today, Stri Wellness is not just a school or a wellness centre. It is a movement — empowering women to heal, grow, and rediscover their strength and potential, one breath at a time.

Nisha's Personal Journey
The Years Nobody Talked About
Since her teenage years, Nisha lived with PCOD — irregular periods, unexplained weight gain, and a body she didn't quite understand. Every time she sought answers, she was met with the same dismissal: "It's normal. Once you get married, it'll sort itself out." So she did what so many girls are taught to do — she pushed it aside, carried on, and let the years pass with the problem quietly worsening. It wasn't dramatic. It was just the slow erosion of not being heard, not being seen, not knowing that her body deserved better.
The Breaking Point
A significant financial loss brought Nisha to her lowest point — and into depression. It was in that darkness that she found Vipassana. For the first time in years, she sat still with herself. She listened. Not to a diagnosis or a prescription, but to something quieter and far more honest. That ten-day silence cracked open a door she hadn't known existed — one that led inward, toward the root of everything that had been unwell for so long.
The Turning Point
Curious again about her hormonal health, Nisha finally consulted an endocrinologist in Mumbai — a woman who changed everything with a single, radical act of honesty. Instead of writing a prescription, she said: "I could give you medication. It would help for now. But it won't heal you. Go home. Fix your diet. Move your body. Come back in three months." That conversation planted a seed. Nisha began running. She began practising yoga — not as fitness, but as medicine. In three months, she had lost 7 kg. Her periods, regular for the first time in memory, began to find their rhythm. In six months, she was 13 kg lighter and had crossed the finish line of her first half marathon. Her body — the same body she had been told was just difficult — was healing.
2014 — The Leap
Before yoga, Nisha had built a career she was good at — Pan India Visual Merchandiser with Skechers, a role that took her across the country. But something had shifted permanently inside her. In 2014, she quit. She packed her curiosity and travelled to Rishikesh and the Sivananda Ashram in Madurai, surrendering to the depth of yogic learning. It was not a career pivot. It was a homecoming.
The Scholar Years
Nisha went on to complete her M.Sc. in Yoga & Naturopathy, becoming an internationally certified Yoga Therapist (IAYT) and a certified Hormone Health Specialist. She also trained as a certified Aerial Yoga Teacher. Each qualification deepened what she had already understood in her bones — that the body heals when it is truly understood, and that yoga, taught with scientific rigour and compassion, is one of the most powerful healing tools we have. Today, she is a PhD scholar in Yoga, still learning, still asking questions.
2018 — Stri Wellness is Born
Nisha founded Stri Wellness with one driving intention: to give women the knowledge she never had as a girl. If she had understood her hormones earlier — if someone had taught her the connection between breath, movement, and her endocrine system — she would not have spent years suffering quietly and being told it was normal. Stri Wellness exists so that no woman has to go through what she did — dismissed, unheard, and without the tools to heal herself. Through yoga, hormone science, and functional anatomy, Nisha now teaches what she wishes she had been taught. And she does it with the authority of someone who has lived it.
Today
With 12+ years of experience teaching Functional Yogic Anatomy, Hormone Science, Pranayama Science, and Hatha & Vinyasa, Nisha continues to run half marathons, host the BreathMath podcast, and share her knowledge on her YouTube channel @scienceandstillness — where she bridges the science of yoga with the stillness of practice. She is a woman who healed herself, and then built a school so others could too.
What Nisha carries into every class, every training, every conversation is not just expertise — it is lived experience. She knows what it feels like to be dismissed, to be unwell without answers, to be told your pain is normal. And she knows what it feels like when the body finally begins to heal — not because of a pill, but because of practice.
That knowing is what makes her teaching different. She doesn't teach from a textbook alone. She teaches from her body, her history, and her deep belief that every woman deserves to understand the science of herself.
"I know what it feels like to suffer in your own body without answers. I also know what it feels like when yoga gives you those answers. My intention is to share this science — both human science and yogic science — with as many women as possible."— Nisha Ahya, Founder, Stri Wellness
